The focus is to create awareness of how we allow outside influences determine our behavior in a given situation. Criminologists have determined that what we see others do, how much we may fear reprimands, and how we are classified in the social environment will have a reflection of how we conduct ourselves on an everyday basis. For example, a child who is allowed to slap or hit another child without any reprisal while their parent, may perceive this as normal behavior and will grow up thinking that they have the right to strike another person any time they are angry and upset.
